Privacy policy

This policy explains what personal data PadelTerra processes when you use the site, why, and what rights you have. We keep it short because we collect very little.

Who is responsible

PadelTerra is run by Andrei Ionut (Romania), who is the data controller for this website. You can reach us through our contact form.

The short version

• There are no user accounts or newsletters. The only form is our contact form.
• We use Clicky for privacy-friendly visitor statistics, with its cookies switched off. PadelTerra sets no cookies and uses no advertising or tracking tools.
• We store nothing in your browser.
• Maps from Google and OpenStreetMap load only if you click to show them.
• Our web server keeps short-lived technical logs, as almost every website does.

Server logs

When you visit a page, our web server receives the information your browser sends with every request: your IP address, the date and time, the page requested, the referring page, and your browser and operating system. The server records this in access logs.

We use these logs only to run the site securely: to detect and block attacks and abuse, and to fix errors. Our legal basis is our legitimate interest in keeping the site secure and working (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR). The logs are deleted automatically after 14 days, unless we need a specific entry to investigate an attack.

The site is hosted on a server provided by Hetzner Online GmbH, which processes this data on our behalf.

Visitor statistics

To understand which pages are useful, we use the analytics service Clicky. When a page loads, your browser sends Clicky the page address, the referring page, your IP address, your browser and device type, and the time of the visit. We have switched off Clicky's tracking cookies, so it stores nothing on your device and does not follow you from one visit to the next.

We use these statistics only in aggregate, to improve the site. Our legal basis is our legitimate interest in knowing how the site is used (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR). Clicky processes the data on our behalf; see the Clicky privacy policy. You can block it with any common content blocker without affecting the site.

Maps

Club and city pages can show a map. To protect your privacy, the maps do not load automatically. You see a placeholder first, and the map loads only when you click the button.

• Google Maps. Club pages can show a Google map. When you click to load it, your browser connects to Google, which receives your IP address and may set cookies. Google processes this data under its own privacy policy, and may process it outside the European Economic Area. Our legal basis is your consent, given by clicking (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR). We do not remember your choice, so a map loads again only if you click again.
• OpenStreetMap. Some maps use tiles from the OpenStreetMap Foundation. When you click to load them, your browser requests the tiles from OpenStreetMap's servers, which receive your IP address. See the OpenStreetMap Foundation privacy policy.

Links to other websites

Club pages link to club websites, booking platforms and Google Maps directions. When you follow one of these links you leave PadelTerra, and the other site's privacy policy applies. We do not share any data with them.

Fonts, images and flags on PadelTerra are served from our own server. Apart from Clicky, viewing a page does not contact any other company until you choose to load a map.

The contact form

When you send a message through our contact form, we receive your name, your email address, the topic you chose and your message. We use them only to reply to you and to deal with your request, for example a correction to a club listing. Our legal basis is your request itself (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR) and our legitimate interest in answering messages (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).

To prevent abuse, our server briefly keeps the IP address of each submission in memory to limit how many messages can be sent in an hour. It is not stored anywhere.

Messages are delivered to our mailbox by the email service Resend, Inc. (United States), which processes them on our behalf and may process them outside the European Economic Area. See the Resend privacy policy. We keep correspondence only as long as needed to deal with your request.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to restrict or object to its processing, and to data portability. Where processing is based on consent, you can withdraw consent at any time. For the maps, simply do not click to load them. To exercise these rights, use our contact form.

You also have the right to complain to a data protection supervisory authority, in particular in the EU country where you live or work, or where you think the problem occurred. Our lead authority in Romania is the National Supervisory Authority for Personal Data Processing (ANSPDCP).

Changes to this policy

If we add features that process more data, such as affiliate links in gear guides, we will update this policy before they go live and change the date at the top of the page.
