Sweden had one of the fastest padel booms anywhere. The International Padel Federation's World Padel Report 2025 counts 4,220 courts and 1,202 clubs, more courts than any European country except Spain and Italy. Booking data compiled by Svenska Padelförbundet with Matchi shows how quickly it happened. About 170,000 people booked a court in 2019, and 540,000 did in 2021.
The federation is padel-specific and separate from Swedish tennis. In early 2023 it reported growth from 106 to 220 member clubs within a few months, and a jump in licensed competition players from 2,100 to more than 5,600. Licences are sold through Rankedin to members of affiliated clubs, and the national ranking counts each player's 12 best competitions from the last year.
Team padel is growing too. The federation called the 2026/27 Swedish Padel League its biggest season yet, with 45 new men's and 44 new women's teams. On the international side, Sweden hosts several FIP Bronze, Silver and Promises events in 2026, from Helsingborg to Skurup.
